We know we’ve been saying this for a while, but – we cannot wait to share this movie with you all! Thank you so much for sticking with us through our long post-production process. Editing is by far the most arduous phase of making a movie like this (remember that next time you go to the theater: wait ‘til you see the editor in the credits and give that unsung hero a standing ovation).
This movie wouldn’t exist without you guys, so we want to keep you updated on what’s going on. Our original plan for 'WMM' was to release it online on-Demand by the end of the year. However, after plenty of head-scratching and contemplation, we’ve decided to go a slightly different route. Honestly, we feel like we owe it to all of you who helped get this movie made through Kickstarter, our fans, and all of our supporters to try and get 'We Make Movies' a broader audience and more exposure if we can. So we’ve decided to submit it to a handful of Film Festivals during the upcoming Spring season, and see where that takes us. And because Film Festivals require films to “premiere” with them, it means we won’t be able to make the film available to the public until after it plays at any of those festivals.
We’ll be upfront with you, though – we don’t know if we’ll get into any film festivals. Festivals can be very competitive when it comes to feature-length movies (especially for a unique movie like 'We Make Movies,' which doesn’t really fit into the “mainstream” type of comedy), and since submissions aren’t cheap we only have the budget for a few. If we do make it, though, it has the potential for the movie to get a lot more eyeballs on it through news media and film industry exposure.
It may be a long shot, but regardless of what happens, we are extremely proud of 'We Make Movies,' and we’re confident you’ll enjoy it and (hopefully) find it hilarious. So keep us in your prayers. Making the movie was one thing; actually getting it out into the world is another, and can be a long process. Make sure to "like" and follow us over on Facebook to stay updated.
Thanks for taking this journey with us. We'll keep you posted!
Over and out.
